Evaluation of Nd: YAG laser as an appurtenance to scaling and root planning in treating chronic periodontitis

Chronic Periodontitis (CP) causes inflammation of teeth’s supporting tissues and progressive loss bone attachment. The purpose this study was to compare the treatment methodology for CP using Scaling Root Planning alone in combination with Nd: YAG Laser. : Sixty patients diagnosed generalized moderate chronic periodontitis were randomly assigned two different groups. Group 1: SRP, group 2: SRP A clinical examination Plague Index PI, Gingival GI, Probing Pocket Depth PPD performed on each patient. Four follow-ups conducted: at baseline, one month, three months, six months. gradual reduction seen both groups, but significant effects observed 2 patients. In 2, PI had a more considerable F value 291.22 substantial than control group. It can be concluded that although is conventional technique when combined non- surgical laser it provides prolonged benefits.
